Grant Awards Rescheduled for July 28

Arts Place announces that The Region Five Grant Awards Reception and Ceremony at Arts Place is being rescheduled for Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

Arts Place, Inc., as the Region Five Partner of the Indiana Arts Commission hosts an award ceremony each year announcing the Region Five Grant Awards for Arts Organization Support, Arts Project Support and Mini Grants from the Indiana Regional Arts Partnership and a public reception to honor the recipients.

Arts Place Executive Director Eric Rogers stated that “as the State of Indiana has not yet approved a budget for the Indiana Arts Commission, it is necessary to postpone Arts Place grant making decisions.”   All media representatives are encouraged to attend the reception at 5:00 p.m., followed by the grant awards ceremony at 6:00 p.m.  Please RSVP by contacting Sue Burk, 260-726-4809, ext. 223 or sburk@artsland.org.

The Grant Awards reception will take place from 5 to 6 p.m., featuring Hartford City artist Kim Anderson.  The awards ceremony will immediately follow from 6 to 7 p.m.  Racster, Jacks, and Associates have kindly agreed to sponsor the reception.

Among the other activities scheduled at Arts Place, Inc. for Tuesday, July 28, 2009 is a quarterly meeting of the Regional Roundtable Committee at 2:00 p.m.  The Region Five Roundtable is an advisory council to Arts Place, Inc. on matters that affect planning, delivery, and evaluation of the four core regional services of grants making, technical assistance, information and referral, and cultural planning.

Under the Indiana Arts Commission’s Regional Arts Partnership, Arts Place serves a twelve county region in East Central Indiana, including Adams, Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne Counties. These grants are made possible by the Indiana Arts Commission with funds appropriated by the Indiana General Assembly and the U.S. Congress, through the National Endowment for the Arts, and are for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009. Last year, over $189,000.00 was granted.  Arts Place anticipates awarding a much smaller amount for the coming fiscal year due to the State’s declining revenues.
