The Famous Old Time
Music Company Specializes in Bluegrass
The Famous Old Time Music Company (FOTMC) in
Wapakoneta, Ohio is more than just a music store --
it stands out among music stores. Having been part
of the Cincinnati Bluegrass scene since 1972, it is
much more than just a retail outlet for musical
instruments. Since 2003, Famous Old Time Music has
been spreading the Bluegrass sound to Northern Ohio
communities at the Wapakoneta store.
Owned by Vernon and Kitty McIntyre, Famous Old Time
Music is the place to find vintage instruments
including Martin guitars, Gibson banjos and
mandolins, Dobros, fiddles, basses, hammered and lap
dulcimers. Famous Old Time Music Company also
carries accessories and recordings and provides
lessons, repairs, jam sessions, workshops, live
shows, and lots of good folks who share a love of
acoustic music.
FOTMC is also the home base of
Vernon McIntyre’s Appalachian Grass. With over
40 years experience as a bluegrass musician, Vernon
McIntyre the guiding force behind the band’s sound,
which features hard-driving bluegrass, trick
fiddling and tight harmony.
Special events in the Boatwhistle Memorial Hall
include the
Appalachian Opry, Bluegrass in the Cornfield
concerts, and
McIntyre's and Friends. Other events include
monthly Dulci-Jams and weekly Friday night jam
sessions.
